I should have know today would be a big day.
It is anniversary #11, so both “the Pretty One” and I took the day off.
The day began with things 1 & 2 waking us up with a theological argument.
Our 7 year old came into the room claiming that “All we need is Jesus!”.
The 5 year old, however, took exception (the argument, apparently, had been a bit heated out of our presence)
“No.. all we need is Jesus… and food!”
I have to admit she had a point, but is probably a bit tough to grasp the eternal when you are only 5. I am quite thrilled, however, that my children are thinking through those types of questions.

Later that day…

The pretty one and “Thing 1” just came back from grocery shopping. “Thing 2” was in the back yard playing with the 8th grader from next door. They all pitched in and helped us bring the groceries in. “Thing 1” was on her last bag when she tripped just outside the back door and nailed her arm on an old steel wash bin we use as a garden piece. It wasn’t sharp at all, but the injury was the worst I have ever seen and required 15 stitches (I won’t get in to the gory details, but you can call me if you want to know any more).
After 2 hours in the ER we got home and she immediately ran out to ride her bike. We realized pretty quickly that it was still OK for us to go out to celebrate the last 11 years.
We went downtown and tried a great Italian place (Pazzaluna… highly recommended). We then went to the Science Museum to see the Pompeii exhibit, but the last group had just entered 5 minutes ahead of us.
We slowly made our way back to the car and back home. It was nice to spend a little time with my wife… especially after the excitement of the afternoon.
Oh… and to fill my picture requirement, here is “Thing 1” with her new bandage and new teddy bear that they gave her
in the ER (probably the most expensive teddy bear she ever got).
She named him “Stitch”
