What about.com can tell us about millennials

At the South by Southwest Interactive festival in Austin, Dr. Jon Roberts gave us a peak into observations and lessons from over 20 years of user searches. You can read about that in my last post.

As he looks for trends, he realizes that they may lead to overgeneralizations. “I care about individuals in real life, I don’t care about them in my data analysis”.

Demographically, he broke down some interesting observations about millennials, based on the searches and questions they are asking.

  • Millennials health interests are the same as previous generations except that they are uniquely concerned about stress and anxiety.
  • In previous generations, interest in financial basics like “car insurance” ranked highly. Millennials seem even more interested in specific financial terminology.
  • Millennials are more financially literate, and fairly financially conservative.
  • Millennial women are more likely to want to go to Paris
  • Millennial men have no interest in going to Paris
  • Dating tip for Millennial men: go to Paris…
